Free Printable Teddy Bear Coloring Pages
We all know – & love – teddy bears! Teddy bears are soft toys shaped like bears. Fun fact: Do you know why little teddy bears are called like that? Here’s the answer: The teddy bear is named after U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt. Yes, it’s true!
Years ago, in 1902, President Roosevelt went on a bear-hunting trip in Mississippi. While hunting, they found an old and injured bear that he refused to shoot as he felt it was “unsportsmanlike”. Because of this incident, cartoons starring “Teddy” and “the bear” became popular.
Soon after, a shop owner in Brooklyn, New York, saw one of the cartoons and had the idea of creating stuffed bears, and, with Roosevelt’s permission, the store owner named the bears “Teddy bears”… and they became an instant success! Isn’t that an interesting fact?
With a button nose and a cute bow tie, teddy bears quickly became the perfect gift for young kids, older kids, and pretty much children of all ages!
